How to Purchase Natural, Artificial Hormone, Antibiotic Free, Grass-fed, Pasture-raised Beef

We sell cattle after weaning, growing and finishing - usually at 24-29 months for cattle.

Cattle are priced by market weight - based on the most current market report - from Navasota Livestock Auction.  You may look up the current report yourself or Leaning Cedar Ranch will email you the most current report to help you make your purchase decision.  Prices in the report are per pound on the hoof.  Your Dexter beef will likely be quality grade CHOICE.

Processing is ~$500.00 per head; all in your beef will USUALLY cost between $5 and $6 per pound  - for all cuts - steaks, rib roasts, tenderloin, roasts, ground beef.  You will need 13-15 cubic feet of freezer space for a whole Dexter beef.  For more details click here.

Methods of Payment

Private treaty sale is preferred. Sale will always be conducted via negotiation and a contract will be offered by Learning Cedar Ranch. Cash, check, or Zelle are all acceptable methods of payment. At the time of sale buyer receives a written complete health history, copies of all genetic tests, along with a completed sales agreement. 

Transportation

We are happy to transport - for free - within a 25 mile radius of Leaning Cedar Ranch.  Distances beyond 25 miles are charged at $2.00 per loaded mile with a $100 fuel fee (fuel fee is negotiable based on distance).

DELIVERY METHODS FOR BEEF

Option A - Customer: You purchase the animal and are responsible for all aspects of transport and processing. You pick-up the cattle or lamb at the ranch and take it to the processor of your choice. Leaning Cedar Ranch will also deliver your animal free to a radius of 50 miles, or to a greater distance for a fee.

Option B – Fee Agent: You purchase the animal, and after the purchase is complete, we will deliver your animal to the processor of your choice. Based on your desires, we will instruct the processor regarding cuts and any special requests. Upon completion, Leaning Cedar Ranch will pick-up your wrapped and frozen meat and deliver it where desired. To reduce your costs, you may choose to pick up your meat from the processor or from the ranch.
